Music Preferences

I remember the time when I was young, how embarrassed/ashamed/shy I would get when people asked me about the kind of music that I liked. In case if you don't already know, my taste in music is somewhat different from most people.

Yes, I love/like/am obsessed with the classical/orchestra/new age/opera (not the hokkien or cantonese ones of course) genre SINCE YOUNG.

I also have a soft spot for musicians, ESPECIALLY piano players. I always feel that ANY guy whenever he plays the piano looks handsome and sexy. Turns me on sia. *slurpp*

The reason why I used to be quite embarrassed to admit my preferences when it comes to music is because of the reactions I would get when I tell people. Don't get me wrong, Im NOT embarrased or ashamed of the genre of music that I enjoy, it just gets me uncomfortable when people go, "eeeeeeeeeee!!! how can you possibly like that??!! It's like so boring and puts me to sleep can??" -_-

That was THEN.

NOW, I would say, screw each and everyone of you for laughing at my music preferences. Can't you respect others choices? Yes, I love/like/am obsessed with such music, and no, it doesn't put me off to sleep like how so many of you claim to, cannot is it?? Must I ask permission first?? -_-

Really. What's the matter with you people?? Does it make you happier when you put others down? Crap.

It is perfectly OK to disagree with my choices or preferences, everybody has his or her own preferences, likes or dislikes, I have absolutely no problems whatsoever with that. But what I really cannot stand is people cringing when I tell them about me liking say for example: opera.

You people cannot respect what other like is it? Would you like it or be exceptionally ecstatic if you told people that you like something and the other person starts to cringe and pretends to vomit to show a look of utter disgust or horror? Think not.

Of course I am exaggerating. Nevertheless, you get what I mean.

Just the other day I was playing one of my favourite CDs, italian opera (not that I can understand the language, just that I like the way it sounds altogether) and then my dad went "eeeewwww!! what kind of music is this?? so horrible!!" *shows middle finger*

Seriously. Im not asking people to agree with my choice or taste in music, I just don't understand why can people be more sensitive and shut the fuck up if they don't like or disagree?
I mean, even if you were to say, "no, I don't share the same views as you on such music" I wouldn't be THAT irritated, but surely not one of utter disgust/shock/horror as if Im regarding shit (as in feces) as my favourite food like that. -_-

Anyways, what is wrong with this genre of music? I seriously don't understand. Is it really THAT repulsive as you all make it out to be, such that people like me automatically become an outcast because I appreciate such music??

I have my fair share of music that I cannot appreciate. For example, trance and heavy metal. I cannot appreciate them because everytime I listen to them, they give me a headache and my heart pounds faster than I desire, making me more anxious, fidgety, and fast tempered.

I know the same goes for those who cannot appreciate the kind of music I like because (as they so claim) it makes them sssooo sleepy. (and so they start puking and feel totally disgusted and what not)

You don't see me reacting in the same way towards the kind of music I cannot appreciate do you? So what's with the melodrama?? duhzz.

Cut it out people. It really ISN'T funny or amusing in any way. It is very insulting.
