My oh-so-lovely co-worker

I used to think that I'm one of the most impatient person you can ever find living, but lately, I'm amazed at how much patience I seem to have cultivated over the past few months, or half a year to be exact. You see, the thing is, after my ex-partner (at work) left, the new one who took over is an IDIOT.

Pardon me, but I have absolutely nothing against IDIOTS or dim-witted people, but what I really really cannot stand are people who cannot be bothered to make changes for the better, are too stubborn to heed advises and not willing to work or even make sacrifices for the things that they want (or claim that they want).

Anyways. My current co-worker is all of the above said. And as I mentioned just now, she is an IDIOT too. Till now, I really wonder what was it about her that made my boss decide to hire her, and when he chose to hire her, did he think I was her equal?? (I'm so damned)

Just the other day, she was binding one of those self-made books for record purposes. Well, we have that binding machine in our office, so most of those thick record books were D.I.Y.

She used that machine to punch holes into that stack of paper (very easy lah, just punch holes like using your regular paper hole puncher). But when it comes to binding it, she chose to do it MANUALLY. Yes, MANUALLY, which means, she had to insert the bind maunally hole by hole.

Well of course a couple of us saw that and told her that the machine can be used to insert the bind all in one shot, so why dun fucking just use it??

Guess what she replied?? "It's ok lah, I'm about to finish it already." When in actual fact, she has only finish less than 1/10 of the whole stack of papers (the stack is about 2 inches thick).

Pretty obvious she doesn't know how to use the machine, but that isn't the point. So I told her, to use it, NOW, I will teach her how to use it. And her reply was same as above.

I was HONESTLY very shocked at her answer as I really didn't expect that from her. I mean, I was offering to teach her how to use it, and she rejected it. How often you offer to teach someone how to do something and the person rejects you?? I mean, we are working, and I'm teaching you something we need to use when at work, not some leisure stuff hello?? -_-

The next thing that happened really threw me off my chair.

Still refusing to give up, I shot her this question:

Me: "Don't you want to even learn how to use it so that in future it will come in handy??"

She: "dun need lah, I'm about to finish already"

Me: "But you will have to make yet another book for the second half of the year"

She: "That time then say lah, what for make so many ?(=two only)"

Me: "Since you are at it now, why don't you just make the other as well? You know very well that very advanced bookings will come, and what if the dates falls on the second half of the year? That time then you rush to make the other book??"

She: "Aiyah, it's ok lah, that time then say."

Me: "...... So you mean to tell me you DON'T WANT to learn how to use that machine??"

She: "It's ok lah, I'm about to finish already."

Me: ...................

There. I was obviously very vey pissed with her already, cos even simple and straight forward instructions we have to keep repeating a few gazallion times and still she have yet to digest it. And then came this.

I remember sms-ing my other colleague after that. I so need to cool down then: "Already half stupid. Yet when people want to teach you or give you advises and you refuse to learn. I really don't know what to say."

Fastforward to a couple of months later.

I was on leave to clear my projects and study for my tests. We have a total of three secretaries to support the back end office, and happened that the other gal was on half day leave due to some urgent matter on the day I was on leave.

Now, my other colleague was rushing some stuff for my boss and it was already one thirty in the afternoon. (half day sessions knocks off at 1pm) At this time, somebody from another department came over to borrow the binding machine and asked my partner to help her with it, cos she doesn't know how to use it.

Well, as you guessed it, my partner didn't know how to use it and pushed to my other colleague to help that person from another department.

My colleague pissed as she was as she was already running late, scolded her up down left right and center.

She: "That time Yvonne teach you how to use it and you don't want to pay attention and listen properly, now you cannot remember how to use it!!"

My partner: "I forget how to use it already lah."

She: "How can you ever, ever forget!! This is part and parcel of your work you know!! I'm very busy, have to rush this thing for boss and I'm already running late!! You are really not much of a help!!"

My partner: "So long ago, you really expect me to remember meh?"

She: Super dulanz and lost for words.
I have no idea in the end who helped that poor fella from the other department.

My partner isn't very smart to begin with in the first place, very lazy, stubborn to learn and change, and she's also very dreamy, seems to be unable to concentrate in her work.

Just the other day she made a HUGE mistake in her work that got my boss in deep shit. He was so angry that he wanted to fire her (not first time liao)

Some client made a booking to use our function room on a particular sunday. The client had already paid in full for the booking of the room, with contract signed and all a couple of weeks ago.

When the date of the event came, she forgot (totally) to inform the rest of the other departments to set up the room, prepare the audio and all, so nobody knew that there was such an event taking place on that day.

Well, the client came with his whole group (100 of them) of attendees on the date of the event and my banquet manager got a shock of his life. It didn't help that almost all his staff were not working on that day. So in the end, he recalled one of them all the way from malaysia, and utilised a couple of the people from other departments to help with the setup and all.

And that was how my boss had to answer to the GM and the heads of the other departments. Lucky thing the client was very nice and didn't make an issue of it, else our ass will all be fried.

Anyways, it wasn't so much of the mistake but rather, again its her ATTITUDE that makes people all very pissed. (oh, she likes to laugh it off when people scold her, not the wahahaha kinda laugh, but sha xiao (silly laughter to herself))

So yah, I was telling her to be careful and such and that how can she ever forget something so important. She replied me that well, the booking was made almost a month ago, "you really expect me to remember meh??" With that, she laughes (silly laughter) to herself again. -_-

I rest my case.
